If you're only familiar with one, you'll likely be confused, because there are SO many characters to keep track of, and you'll understand more if you know the characters already and don't need any introductions. Despite her boyfriend Kyle's kindness and her best-friendship with Kyle's younger sister "Maps", Olive continued to become reclusive, absorbed in darker thoughts and acting out in ways that surprised even herself. It’s set in Gotham so it’s very gothic but more so in a Harry Potter sense than in any scary, imposing way. xD The one thing that I didn't like was that some of the pages were a bit too busy, other than that it was FANTASTIC. If the DC Offices keep putting out books like this and the new Batgirl, I'm never going to have any money again.This story has nothing at all to do with Gotham Academy itself, but completionists will want to check it out! It doesn't further the plot established by the previous books, but is more of a fun anthology series. Gotham Academy is hitting all the right notes, and I hope it continues to do so, because it's got a firm reader so far. Unfortunately when you add in the Academy kids, some of them become only identifiable by their specific clothing options or distinctive hair styles like Olive's white hair, so that's a muddle too.
