I loved how in their eyes, there was no one else. Their banter and the suspense was exceptional! Remi Ford was an absolute force of nature!

Pretend You’re Mine is narrated from the point of view of the two lead characters: Luke Garrison and Harper Wilde. It’s an addictive light read featuring a multitude of dialogues. The plot focuses on the romance of the protagonists, but when we are advanced in the story, you will get good surprises because several turns appear that will have you even more hooked. Regarding the characters, the protagonists are very well crafted, and in the end, we see a clear development. Additionally, the story would not be the same without the secondary characters that contribute many things to the novel and enable the readers to get a better understanding of the main characters. It’s a Lucy Score book, so sex is kind of expected, right. Her other books at least had some depth and feel and moments of LOL and stronger heroines who aren’t lame, practically begging for sex constantly, sex puppies who can’t string a thought together because all she can think about is sex. The only conversations as far as I recall, between the H&H were whole they were having sex. Mira rushed in to give the prodigal a hug. “Are you surprising your parents?” she asked. “I know they missed you at Christmas this year.” There were a lot of things that made Remi different from the average girl. Synesthesia was one of them. You don’t fall for your brother’s high school sweetheart, your boss’s daughter, or your ex-wife’s best friend. Especially when they’re all the same woman. He would make sure she was never alone in the dark again. Never faced an enemy alone. Never without a protector.” The writing, the main characters, - terrible. Selfish. And the whole “oh Remi you are just the most special girl in the world” and the other female characters hated her for being so special and taking all their shine literally made me want to burn the book. Spare me that bs please.

Lucy Score took this concept and gave us the ultimate look at how this feeling can tie up a man for years...how he had a love and need for a woman but always stopped himself from acting on his intense feelings. On the flip side, the woman causing all of this need and conflict always had feelings for this man but every time something might have finally happened between them...Walls were erected and hurt was inflicted. I’ll start with what I liked, for the most part I liked the FMC Remi, she’s unique, funny, and brash. I liked the setting, the cute little island town was quaint and the thriller/mystery was also very compelling. You haunt my every waking moment, Remington. The best thing about this world is that you’re in it.” Despite that, there were so many delicious things about this book. A free spirited, quirky h who had the world’s interest at heart. A moody stoic H who loved the h but felt he wouldn’t be good enough for her so kept himself at arms distance emotionally. Watching them bumble through this metaphorical wall of past hurts, of insecurities, of frustrations was entertaining to watch. The island and its inhabitants sounded lovely and was described beautifully. HATED all the cross sleeping around history, characters all still fine with one another and so on after their histories together. It wasn’t any of his business. And he knew what would happen if he let himself get curious. Remi Ford was no longer his concern. All I did was over police a woman I was attracted to because I wanted to control her actions at all times. I basically fell in love with her at first sight, which is kind of sketch since I’m 24 and she’s only 16, but I never tried to act on it until everything was legal so nbd. I did promise her we would start a relationship and then fled our hometown instead of talking to her again. Even though she tried to convince me over and over again that she wanted me and wanted my love, I teased her and taunted her for years, but ultimately rejected her completely and repeatedly. I did teach her she was unloveable and really too much to handle through my repeated rejection, but then I got mad at her when she thinks she’s unlovable. Ultimately I decided to marry her best friend to “make her hurt the way I did” and “ruin any chance I had with her” but also now I’m punishing her for not trusting me. You wanted to know why I married Audrey? You should be asking why we divorced. Because of you. Your name is the last word I breathe every night. Your face is the one I see when I close my eyes. I couldn’t hide that from her.” Had he bothered straightening to his full six feet four inches and looked up from the canned goods, he would have caught that telltale flash of red. The color of forest fires and the temptations of hell.
