Description

This was an enjoyable watch for a run of the mill Xmas movie set in the Highlands of Scotland (Fort William and Lochaber). The story was easy to follow and entirely predictable with almost no elements of surprise, with pleasant enough characters acting entirely within stereotypes. Set in the Old West in the late 19th century, the film follows Spirit, a Kiger mustang stallion (voiced by Matt Damon as a narrator), who is captured during the American Indian Wars by the United States Cavalry; he is eventually freed by a Lakota man named Little Creek with whom he bonds, as well as a mare named Rain. In contrast to the anthropomorphic style of animal characters in other animated features, Spirit and his fellow horses communicate with each other through non-linguistic sounds and body language (albeit with many human facial expressions and reactions).

In the 19th-century American West, a Kiger mustang colt, Spirit, is born to a herd of wild horses; he grows into a stallion and assumes the leadership of the herd. One night, upon following a strange light near his herd, Spirit finds horses tied to a log and their wranglers sleeping around a campfire. They awake and, after a chase, capture him and take him to a US cavalry fort. Steinberg, Brian (June 16, 2016). "Netflix Readies Animated 'Spy Kids,' 'Llama Llama' Series (EXCLUSIVE)". Variety. I think Talking Pictures contributed to their downfall. Often looked like they used Network DVDs to broadcast, with the odd cut to what is regarded as unacceptable nowadays . Anyway Network were good for releasing half forgotten, but generally good dramas from the eighties and nineties that had never been repeated by the BBC and ITV for decades. If you wanted a BBC crime drama from 1991 that only a handful of fans remembered and wanted to see again, then Network was the place to go for a box set.

Cheers, I'm going to go through that and have a look as I think I had a couple of their titles on my "when the pile has gone down"* list
