I am working on version 2.0.0 where a lot will change. However, it will still take a little while until I release it. Yes, it is notched and damped to emulate real world controls. 4 brake notches and 7 power notches. If the train has 4 power notches, like many modern units, then you would ignore the last 3 notches of power. Alternatively, you can try to calculate the time factor yourself. It's the amount of percent moved in one second. So if you move 60% (e.g. from 10% to 70%) in 1.23 seconds, you have a time factor of (60)/1.23=49. For a controller with notches, it's the time it takes to move from one notch to the center of the next. I hope this helps you. Not sure about Steam, but DS4Windows definitely allows you to use the touchpad as a mouse, as well as lots of other useful features (far more in depth than Steam).

Throttle/Brake handle – The PBC had a Throttle/Brake handle which is typically used as 4 brake notches and upto 7 throttle notches. Not normally no. An internet connection is required if you want to use the automatic updates of the software and firmware. I still use the XInput solution in TSW2 and TSW3 because controlling throttle and brakes directly is really nice. Also, with the other tools I mentioned in my previous post I can split and remap my hardware levers to the Raildriver axis so that they match 1:1 with the loco I'm driving. For example, the Raildriver has throttle and brake on the same lever which is not the case for all locos like in the BR 185. The RailDriver® Desktop Train Cab Controller includes prototypical levers and controls for the ultimate interface to computer-based railroading. An internal bass speaker supplements your existing sound system and adds realistic vibration to the controls. The PBC comes in two flavours, with or without Horn/PBL lever. There are also 3 different handle options available. Door close buttons – These only work on trains which allow it, many trains you are not able to manually close the doors. For these cases, you are able to assign the door close button with different functions such as DSD reset, sand, cab light, and more coming soon. Yes. In the case of trains or locos with separate throttles, such as a sprinter or a Class 37, the handle will control the throttle only and fit to the relevant notches on the controller. Now, onto controllers: Windows 10 natively supports Xbox 360 wired controllers. Every controller that you use on the PC, with some exceptions, are considered by Windows to be Xbox 360 controllers - even Xbox One/SeriesX/S controllers. Many controllers do work, however, without any extra programs, as Steam has a compatibility mode for most of them. This makes them be interpreted as X-Input controllers, but all button icons will be for the Xbox 360 or One, unless your game specifically has a modified UI for different controllers. Train Simulator isn't one of them. It's also worth pointing out that the menus in Train Simulator are pretty dreadful for controllers, so you'll want to use a mouse to navigate them.

is the choice of professionals and users with highest demands that want to control like the professionals.Generally yes. The software has been specifically programmed and tested to work with most UK add-ons and also many worldwide trains. Every week, new add-ons are tested and added to the supported list which can be found here: CompatibilityMatrix It always bothered me with other programs that they became quite inaccurate and also did not change the controller continuously variable. Therefore, I wrote my own program. World of Subways 2 and 3, and Run8 do not require additional software from us. They provide native support. Dovetail Games announced they will provide support for external controllers in a future release of TSW2. They are currently working on a programming interface to enable 2-way controller communication similar to TS2020. When this is released we will be working on support as soon as possible. Brake Levers - Independent and automatic brakes and three-position rotary switches for lights and wipers.

I'd say that a controller is fine if you don't plan on playing with any 'advanced' content. The trains included by default should be mostly fine, but anything that's more advanced won't work properly. Some advanced content may have simple modes, but I always felt that what was removed made the trains less fun to play, as they usually took away from quite simple features. For example, the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 90's simple mode gets rid of the ability to have day and night headlight configurations, which is annoying, and I think it deactivates some other simple features, as well as the major ones you might not want to deal with when using a controller. TS Classics DLC (that being a lot of older DLC available at low prices because of their simplicity) will work fine, and assuming you don't have TS yet are a good place to learn the game*. They are also quite cheap, which is good. Throttle and Reverser - Features a gated dynamic brake and a continuous reverser with three positive stops. The train operation can start immediately without complicated setting of routes, itineraries or timetables I am aware of the problems with the "find time factor" (I also had problems with it myself). But this should be improved in the new version. Generally yes. The software has been specifically programmed and tested to work with most UK add-ons and also many worldwide trains. Every week, new add-ons are tested and added to the supported list which can be found here: Compatibility MatrixDevelopment of the PBC is at an advanced stage, although no firm release dates have been set yet. Other products will be researched when the PBC development is completed. Master Key – The master key works with the majority of trains including AP and JT add-ons, although some DTG trains do not support it. See the compatibility for full support information. Edit: Note that if you have official Xbox or PlayStation controllers then you obviously don't need to map the gamepad to controller 1 in X360CE because they will work in TSW out of the box.

Firmware is the software, or programming code, inside the door Panel controller itself. This may be updated occasionally to provide new features or improvements. All TS Controllers/Alan Thomson Sim hardware products are proudly hand made in the UK in small batches. This ensures quality and reliability. Generic gamepads' like your unofficial one (most likely) will work, but sometimes there might be issues with individual controllers. Dovetail Games have said they will support external controllers in a future release of TSW2. When that is ready, the controller should be fully compatible. If you would like to use the PBC with TSW2, please get in touch with Dovetail games requesting they add external controller support. DRA switch rotary switch -Drivers reminder appliance. This is used as an aid for the driver, and cuts the power when turned on.Before I start, do you actually have Train Simulator yet or are you planning to get it once you've got your new PC?
