About this deal

When installing a Passyfier Vent, you will need to create an opening in your external wall to accommodate the vent. The size of the opening will depend on the size of the vent you are installing. In my experience, mechanical extraction to the loft space would have little effect or benefit. You should focus on the following: In the absence of a modern whole house MVHR (mechanical ventilation and heat recovery) system, which few of us have, then your choices for how best to ventilate your property fall to single room options such as extractor fans or vents, or a PIV system may be recommended. The vast majority of properties that we deal with will rely on standard extractor fans, which more often than not are poorly chosen, poorly installed and poorly understood. General Principles for Ventilation The Perma-vent passive air vent is environmentally friendly and requires no power, saving you money on your energy bills. It also has no moving parts and doesn’t require any maintenance. Passive Ventilation Products from Permagard

Allow one vent per cupboard / wardrobe space or box room with a maximum floor area not exceeding 5m². The environmentally friendly Perma-Vent contains no moving parts and requires no maintenance. It works on the scientific principle that when the room temperature and humidity are greater internally than externally, moist air will be ventilated outside the building due to vapour air differences. The Passyfier Core 140 provides an opening on a section of wall normal to the airflow direction with an effective area well in excess of the minimum requirement. Airflow through the opening is controlled automatically by the intervening mineral wool slab and thereby avoids undue draughts.

The external diameter of the tube is 104mm so the core should be cut larger eg. 4.25” (107mm). Permagard - Condensation Control Experts The unit is designed to be very unobtrusive, with a 6" (152mm) internal white plastic grill. Externally all that can be seen is a 6" white plastic external grille. Kill any mould that exists on the floor, wall and ceiling surfaces with a good quality fungicidal wash before redecorating (See our Mould Eradication Range).

The first step in installing Passyfier vents is to determine where you need them. Passyfier vents are ideal for installation in areas habitable rooms, such as bedrooms and living rooms. Keep in mind that the vents should be installed at a maximum distance of 12 inches below the ceiling height. Passive ventilation makes use of natural forces like the buoyancy of hot air and wind to encourage airflow through your property. The result is that moist stale air is extracted and replaced with fresh clean air. The Passyfier Sleeved 230 Vent provides an opening on a section of wall normal to the airflow direction with an effective area well in excess of the minimum requirement. Airflow through the opening is controlled automatically by the intervening mineral wool slab and thereby avoids undue draughts.Note: Passyfier Vents are used as an aid to help control humidity and are NOT to be used as a method of providing ventilation to any gas, oil, or solid fuel appliance. Ensure that there is a good seal to the loft hatch. Many hatches are very poorly sealed and allow moist air to migrate into the roof space. The best solution is an air heat recovery unit which heats up incoming fresh air using the warm stale humid air which it exhausts at the same time. The unit contains a matrix through which the warm humid air from your property is directed as it is extracted to the outside. The fresh but cold external air is then pulled in accross this matrix warming it up and giving you pre heated fresh air into your home or property. These fans are now up to 92% efficient at heat recovery and 90% efficient for power consumption. These units efficiently combat condensation and improve air quality within the home. Some units cost less than a lightbulb to run. programmes or installed directly in newbuild. A typical house needs about four/five Passyfier units. Quite Use the Passyfier Sleeved Vent Kit wherever practical to maximise the transmission of water vapour.

Use the Passyfier Sleeved Vent Kit where ever practical to maximise the transmission of water vapour. Integrated Fly Screen: Passyfier vents come equipped with an internal white plastic grille with an integrated fly screen to keep insects at bay. Tip: Apply a bead of sealant around the perimeter of the opening to ensure a water-tight installation. and humidity at 100%, while the inside temperature is at a comfortable 20°C. Keeping the inside relative humidity Builders often reccomend passyfier vents, these work on the principle of air movement and pressure changes - eg when you open and close a door, but as you do not open and close doors all night when condensation is at it's worst (not if you want some sleep that is) their efficiency is limited. They will help to reduce but seldom cure condensation problems. Builders tend to reccommend them as they are easy to fit and you do not have to carry out any complex calculations for them. This reduces the influx of cold air from the outside, preventing excessive humidity and minimizing the chances of draughts. Passyfier 100 Core Vent: With a water vapor transmission capacity of up to 1 liter per 24 hours, this vent requires a 132mm diameter core and is suitable for rooms with a floor area not exceeding 7m². Installing Passyfier vents is relatively simple and can be done by most DIY enthusiasts without any professional assistance. The manufacturer provides detailed instructions with each vent, but here's a basic installation guide to help you get started. occupied building than on the outside . This pressure is completely independent of that in the air. For example, a Passyfiers take advantage of the differential partial moisture vapour pressure that is normally higher inside an

Silent Operation: Passyfier dehumidifier vents are non-mechanical, meaning they have no moving parts, making them completely silent and unobtrusive. The Passyfier Core 100 Vent provides an opening on a section of wall normal to the airflow direction with an effective area well in excess of the minimum requirement. Airflow through the opening is controlled automatically by the intervening mineral wool slab and thereby avoids undue draughts. Passyfier Dehumidifier Vents provide an efficient and cost-effective solution to condensation and humidity issues in your home. With their noiseless operation, energy-efficiency, versatility, and maintenance-free design, they offer a range of advantages for your home.

Important Note: Passyfier vents must not be used for providing ventilation to gas, oil, or solid fuel appliances. Use the compatible wind blast cowl with every vent in exposed or coastal locations. Use in conjunction with mechanical extraction in kitchens and bathrooms. Looking at Ventilation Strategy & Options Mould caused by ineffective ventilation and poorly insulated loft space. Versatility: Passyfier vents come in various sizes, making them suitable for installation in habitable rooms such as bedrooms and living rooms. It is important to realise that the release of moisture vapour pressure within a dwelling to avoid condensation does not require a specific ventilation rate.
