Description

Notwithstanding, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3’s top bezel creates room for an HD 720p webcam at the center. This webcam offers reasonable performance for conducting video calls and taking selfies in well-lit environments. In terms of speed, the CPU has a standard frequency of 2.0 GHz. Performance-wise, this processor is a low-end processor mostly found in Android-based tablets and is only capable of handling basic computing operations. Besides, as a 2-in-1 Chromebook, this laptop’s display is a touchscreen. As a matter of fact, the display supports 10-point touch.

For instance, the Apple iPad 10.2 2020 with an A12 Bionic processor delivered an 1116points single-corescore and 2772 points multi-core score. Also, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite with the Exynos 9611 processor recorded a single-core score of 345points and 1207 points multi-core score.Hence, if you are a student or need a laptop for carrying out simple computing workloads, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 is worth considering. In that regard, Lenovo released the Chromebook Flex 3 in 2020. This Chromebook isn’t like most Chromebooks out there – it is a 2-in-1 convertible Chromebook, meaning you can use it in different forms. Alas, if you think that Lenovo has stumbled upon some hidden exception to the rules of physics and economics to fit such high-end features into a tiny enclosure at a palatable asking price, think again. The Flex 3's most significant compromise is its cramped, dim 11.6-inch HD display. Yes, you can touch it, but with a brightness of just 250 nits and a resolution below the 1080p (full HD) that we consider adequate for budget laptops, it's not all that pleasing a panel to look at. Of course, there are now numerous affordable 2-in-1 Chromebooks to choose from, including the Acer Chromebook Spin. The general theme in that class of Chromebook involves low-power processing and limited storage. The Flex 3 is no exception. In actual fact, the laptop has longer battery life compared with most of its competitors. For instance, the HP Chromebook x2 11-da0023dx can last up to 9 hours and 38 minutes, based on the same test.

With that being said, according to the battery rundown test, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 can last up to 13 hoursand 15 minutes. Although this battery life isn’t on par with Lenovo’s claim, it is really impressive. In addition to the HD resolution, the laptop’s display also comes with an IPS panel for wide viewing angles. Thus, you can decide to watch the display from the sides and won’t notice any loss in picture quality or color distortion. Speaking of which, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 should be able to run about 8 Chrome tabs simultaneously without lagging too much. However, when transitioning between the tabs, the laptop’s performance might slow down. By the way, the higher the single-core and multi-core scores, the better the processor’s performance. With that in mind, at the end of the Geekbench 5.3 test, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 delivered a single-core score of 260 points.

The Lenovo Flex 3 Chromebook presents itself as a budget-friendly 2-in-1, and it fulfills that promise with a carry-friendly convertible design and impressive port selection. While its plastic construction and raw performance are no match for more expensive laptops, it's still a satisfying portable companion for casual users at a price that's hard to beat. Lenovo's Flex 3 doesn't deviate from this trend but it does introduce a new Intel CPU, the N100. The first of the silicon giant's N-series processors we've had a chance to test, it differs from Intel's Core series by ditching the multithreaded Performance cores (P-cores) and having only single-thread Efficient cores (E-cores). The N100 has four cores, reducing power draw to squeeze longer battery life out of the lightweight laptops for which it's designed. In other words, it's just about perfect for a Chromebook. As a matter of fact, there are numerous smartphones that offer larger storage space. A few examples of such smartphones include Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Google Pixel XL. Two other Android benchmarks focus on the CPU and GPU respectively. Geekbench by Primate Labs uses all available cores and threads to simulate real-world applications ranging from PDF rendering and speech recognition to machine learning, while GFXBench 5.0 stress-tests both low-level routines like texturing and high-level, game-like image rendering that exercises graphics and compute shaders. Geekbench delivers a numeric score, while GFXBench counts frames per second (fps). Moving on, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 features an 11.6-inch display with an HD (1366 x 768 pixels)resolution. This resolution allows the display to render decent and colorful picture quality.

Meanwhile, for the multi-core score, the laptop delivered 909 points. In comparison, this laptop was significantly surpassed by most of its competitors. That aside, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3’s display offers a maximum brightness of 250 nits. Even though this maximum brightness isn’t enough for outdoor usage, it is more than enough for usage in moderately-lit areas. Also, as a 2-in-1 Chromebook, the hinges permit the lid and display to bend up to 360 degrees. As a result, you can use the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 in four different modes. Nonetheless, this laptop’s keyboard should offer an overall decent typing experience. Looking below the keyboard, you will see the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3’s touchpad. Hence, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 will not be able to handle graphics-demanding apps like AutoCAD. Also, the laptop won’t be able to play high-end games or title AAA games. Limits:Limit 5 per customer. Offers valid from Lenovo in the US only. Lenovo may increase or decrease these limits, from time to time, for certain offerings.

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 comes with an onboard 4 GB LPDDR4x 1866 MHz RAM. Unfortunately, because this memory is onboard, it cannot be removed or upgraded as it is soldered into the laptop’s motherboard.
