Description

The glorious sunshine in June has been replaced by heavy rain this month. It has led many to ask - where has the summer gone? But two dreadfully damp summers (possibly 3) in a row and a very cold winter between, and if memory serves I think the other winter (2007-8) seemed to drag on a bit, it may not have had the snow but I recall thinking it was unseasonably cold until at least May. I can't help thinking there's an underlying larger cause. However, the cooler and wetter weather has worked in our favour meaning that we have been harvesting extremely high quality Brassicas for this time of year. Fingers crossed the temperatures will start to rise, the sun starts shining again and Summer makes another appearance very soon! Unfortunately, the prediction only gets worse, with ‘northwesterly or northerly winds bringing cool temperatures for the time of year.’ The Met Office said conditions will turn wet and increasingly windy. In a gloomy forecast for the West Midlands, it says: "Today: Turning rather windy with rain moving northwards during the morning. Some heavier rain is possible and rain persisting into the afternoon, albeit becoming more showery later. Feeling cool. Maximum temperature 19C.
