Continue this process until one side of the shed has been completed, and then repeat on the other side. 7. Add a capping sheet At Roofing Superstore our choice of flat roof materialsincludes everything you need to create a long-lasting, weatherproof flat roof that performs and looks good too. Including fibreglass roof kits, torch-on felt, and liquid rubber products, everything you need for flat roofing is in one place. Whether you’re repairing a flat roof or laying a new one from scratch, you’ll find all the materials you need here. Roofing felt Next, lay the second layer of felt on the roof. Ensure any joins on the first layer are overlapped, and any air bubbles have been smoothed out, and then nail it down as before. 8. Spread adhesive If required, add another roll or two of felt to ensure the roof is completely covered. Always ensure there is at least 5cm of overlap between each sheet, and nail down the felt from the centre outwards as before. 6. Spread adhesiveInstallation advice on installation of IKO shingles from a practical point of view: https://www.tuin.co.uk/blog/fitting-felt-shingles-for-log-cabins/ Now take the second piece of shed felt and lay it across the roof, ensuring there is an overlap over the first roll of felt – try to ensure this is around 5-7.5cm. Again, nail the top of the roofing felt into place. 5. Add felt adhesive

Each tile has a bitumen strip which melts in the heat of the sun securing your shingles. As an option we offer felt shingle glue and this is also recommended by IKO. We recommend bitumen glue is at least used on the ridge tiles and the first leading edge roof tiles. We recommend shingle glue is used especially in the colder months as it takes longer for the bitumen glue to melt. Shingle glue is also highly recommended in very exposed locations. Our range of roof shingles encompasses felt, bitumen and cedar options, so you can choose the right material for your roof. Shingles in our cedar range include Western Red and Eastern White, or for an impressive finish, you could opt for hexagonal tiles over the more traditional square. Roofing felt is used to achieve a waterproof and durable finish on top of shed roofs, garden building roofs and outhouses. Available as torch-on bitumen felt or self-adhesive bitumen felt, leading manufacturers such as IKO and Icopal make up our range of roofing felt so you can be sure no matter which product you choose that your roofing felt will be of the highest quality. Rolled roofing is very adaptable and can be cut into 12-inch by 36-inch strips to act as hips and ridges or 9-inch strips for eaves and rakes. Ashbrook Roofing is an experienced roofing company, not only sells a range of shed felt but we also have a team of roofers using it on buildings across the country. For more information on shed roofing materials, get in touch. At the corners of the roof, cut the roofing shingles to create an overlap when Folded around the corner, then nail this into position. Fixing The Felt Shingles in Place

Once you have added the shingles to both slopes of your roof, you should be ready to apply to ridge detail. For this task, you can use traditional shingles cut to shape or a shingle ridge roll. Felt Roof Ridge Next, you need to make shingle strips for the roof edges. Cut off the tabs from a single shingle strip to create the detailing pieces.

Felt Roof Ridge

Single and built-up felt roofing systems can be specified for new projects. They are also ideally suited for refurbishment and repairs as the cap sheet can be overlayed onto the existing roof covering. Roofing felts can also be used as temporary waterproofing. What are the benefits of felt roofing?

Bitumen felt shingles are manufactured by pressing granules into a glass fibre bitumen felt strip. These strips feature designs like ‘ square butt’, which is a simple square pattern on the finished roof, or ‘ hexagonal’ which offers more contemporary hexagonal finishes. You’re also able to find ‘ half round’ style bitumen felt shingles which are the most traditional types of shingles that give a scalloped look. Felting a flat roof is slightly different from felting a shed or garden outbuilding. When felting a flat roof, you’ll add several layers of felt to create a watertight and impenetrable seal. 1. Preparation Felt roof repair is relatively easy. The material can simply be patched up if there is a tear or hole in the roof, unlike other roof materials that can have a much more complex and time-consuming repair process. Budget-friendly Once both sides of the roof have been felted, a capping sheet is required. This is a piece of felt that sits over the ridge of the roof. The capping sheet needs to be placed across the top of the roof, ensuring that there is a 7.5cm overlap over the felt on each side of the roof. Apply felt roof adhesive to the underside of the ridge sheet on both sides and press it into place, before nailing it down at 5cm intervals. They are recommending IKO Glass Fibre Underlay 20m (Type 3B). This is similar to a standard roofing felt and if you are choosing to use a membrane we would recommend felt over the IKO membrane.Another benefit of using felt on a roof is that it is relatively inexpensive, whilst still providing a good and durable roofing surface. This is why it is perfect for low-scale and relatively low-budget projects, to create a functional yet low-cost roof. To seal joints and openings apply a bead of lap mastic around the perimeter edges of overlap sections. On the last cover strip, apply an extra bead to ensure a secure bond.
