Jesus del Pozo Halloween Man X EDT is a good, sweet tonka, boozy whiskey, coffee, and spicy cinnamon fragrance. I can see why folks complain about potency longevity and so on. It definitely suffers a bit in the reformulation. Don’t be afraid to hit the sprayer enthusiastically. overtime I may notice something more that will distinguish this to a solid conclusion but for now I will just give it a thumbs up, rating it as if I had never smelled my version (whatever year it is? I can't recall)before. That being Said...trying them side by side as I am at the moment, I get a slight(and I do mean very slight) difference between them.

It is sophisticated, elegant and universally appealing, wearable in almost any scenario of modern life, has better longevity and silage than its predecessor, and as so many others have noted, I can't stop smelling my wrist whenever I'm wearing it.The fruity notes are there as in the original, as is the malt and peat. But after a few hours, it turn into a coffee blend with caramel and chocolate, and it is here where the fusion with A*Men (Original-1996)shows up. In the original Pure Malt, I could smell the caramel and the chocolate in it, but this one its smells different, it smells stronger maybe because of the vanilla.

If you travel to UAE, you'll find many more local brands with almost identical scent. I think the name Amber Wood is a bit misleading because the amber note in this fragrance is not the heavy amber resins which is the common one. I always find that note too feminine and mature. Instead what you get here is a very musky and fresh amber. But my main point is that this smells very pleasant. Ultimate starts off very fresh, with a shortlived citrus note. Then develops into a sweet, almost sugary scent (which makes sense as they've listed a sweet cappuccino note rather than a rounded coffee note). And on my skin, it stays that way for the remaining life of the scent. I don't get much woody or green notes.Newer boozy smells are boozier, sweet gourmand fragrances are sweeter, and there is more frequently an emphasis on realistic expressions of food and drink. While I certainly enjoy those, I think they also show how balanced and ahead of it all the Mugler A*men line was, and for many, Pure Malt is the best of this line. Pure Malt is truly a masterpiece. I understood all the hype as soon as I tried it for the first time and 7 years later I’m still addicted and own 2 bottles now (2014 and 2018 versions). Easily the best flanker in the A*Men line.
