Description

BS 9999 provides a useful list of factors to be considered when assessing the use of a passenger lift, including the: Fire safety signs are photo-luminescent so that the glow of the signs will help occupants make their way out of the premises or find fire-fighting equipment if the lighting fails during a fire. It's a totally unreasonable interpretation for an Earthling to make, but it is at least logically and grammatically plausible.

The Grenfell Tower Inquiry noted in the Phase 1 report that “When the firefighters attended the fire at Grenfell Tower, they were unable to operate the mechanism that should have allowed them to take control of the lifts.” The Inquiry recommended (Recommendations 33.13(a) and (b)) that the owner and manager of every high-rise residential building be required by law to carry out regular inspections of any lifts that are designed to be used by firefighters and to report these results to the fire and rescue service at monthly intervals and that they also be required to undertake tests of the mechanism which allows firefighters to take control of the lifts and to inform the fire rescue service monthly that they have undertaken them. What constitutes a fire. If the robot sees someone smoking a cigarette, should it not use an elevator? If there was a fire last week, does the 'no elevator' rule still apply? Does fire involve an ACTUAL fire, or just a fire alarm? This includes the timely evacuation of disabled occupants, familiarity of the use of lifts (rather than escape routes), reductions in physical effort, stair congestion and a reduction in evacuation time. However, the use of lifts can also present risks. These include:

Acceptance criteria and methods of analysis such as a significant reduction in evacuation time, degree of protection, etc.Which signs you require depends on the layout of your premises, the nature of their use, and the fire-fighting equipment you have. If you have a Fire Risk Assessment this document will outline exactly which fire safety signs you need. We explain more about each category of sign below. 1. ‘Fire Action Notice’ – what to do in case of fire
