Later, he said that he wasn't crushing on her. Max again wonders if Erin can help him. Later, Max thought that she was horrified and said "No! Max!" Later, Erin called Max because the phone started singing, "Girl, we have a connection! I love you more that my Lego collection!" She later confessed that she did call him and when he didn't answer, she shut the lights off. Max said she was his only friend. She said she liked him as a friend and she turned the lights off again so the burglars won't steal the computers. Then she told Max to call her on video chat. He job is to take the burglar's whereabouts and distract them to make sure Max survives. She insisted that they stay every minute on the phone. She said he could use it to call her for 40 minutes and use the last 5 minutes to call his parents. If you like Tom Gates, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and, of course, Dork Diaries you’ll love this very funny new book series’ The Sun Russell grew up in Saint Joseph, Michigan, and has four younger siblings, two sisters and twin brothers. [1] She attended Northwestern University, then law school. As of 2013, she lives in Chantilly, Virginia. [2] Rachel Renée Russell is de auteur van de serie ‘Dagboek van een muts’. De avonturen van Max Kruimel, superheld op sokken is haar nieuwe serie. Sinds kort zit Max op de middelbare school en Honestly, I said in my review of book one that it just felt like the beginning of the book and not the first book in the series, and honestly I feel like if you took the filler content out of both of the books and combined them into one, it would make one, almost complete, book.

Erin has disobeyed her parents for no technology after 9 PM which made them angry. But sometimes, she is on good terms with her mother ,who helped her make the ice princess costume. One of the strongest launch titles for a new series for a long time. It's just right on so many levels’ BookbagDork Diaries, written in a diary format, uses doodles, drawings, and comic strips to chronicle the daily life of the main character, Nikki Maxwell, as she struggles to fit in and survive middle school. The series is based on Russell's middle school experiences. Her daughter, Nikki, is the illustrator of the series. The main character, Nikki Maxwell, is named after her daughter. [1] The bullying stuff was a bit meh (especially since it happened because of a small, unfortunate, accident), and I kept hoping that Max would find the guts to just tell someone about it (and no not Erin), but instead he keeps it to himself, and why? Because he is afraid his parents will pull him from school. Really? Ever heard of talking, maybe even with a counsellor of school present to help out? But I guess talking is for old people.

But I’ll let you in on a secret. Getting bombed by an angry bird is NOT cool. It’s just . . . NASTY!! Max has an older sister named Megan, who often annoys him, a younger brother named Oliver, who has made a few minor appearances in the Dork Diaries series, and a cousin named Wilbur, whom Max often receives hand-me-down clothing from. He is the only person in the series that has asthma and requires an inhaler. Max has bladder issues and has a secret crush on Erin. Max is fully aware about Brandon Roberts having a secret crush on Nikki Maxwell. He likes to rap about his daily life when no one hears him.Like Nikki, Max is also a talented artist. Max's biggest goal in life is to become a superhero. It is revealed in the first book of The Misadventures Of Max Crumbly that his full name is Maxwell. He denied that he wasn't crushing on her even though he is. Max again wonders if Erin can help him. There’s only ONE thing more HUMILIATING than being TRAPPED at my SCHOOL in a NASTY Dumpster in the middle of the NIGHT. And that’s being trapped with ERIN MADISON, a cute computer whiz and the SMARTEST kid in the entire school. And . . . NO! I’m NOT crushing on her! vicious crimes against fashion (did I mention that I’m wearing an ice princess/superhero costume?!). Okay, that FUNK-TASTIC stench I’m smelling is actually the Dumpster, not my life. But STILL . . . !

Since I am a librarian at an elementary school, I know firsthand how popular Dork Diaries are, and how both girls and boys love them. We agreed to book one in this new series as our nightly read, as the kids liked the cover, and it 'sounded fun'. I am also wondering why his parents don't keep a better eye out on the little brother. There were just various things that didn't make sense and just screamed bad parenting. On to what I love about the book. I love the illustrations which have a unique style which I love thanks to Dork Diaries. I do love the reality feel of Max's adventure, which gets scary rather fast. I love how Brandon from Dork Diaries is worked into Max's life – having a slight crossover for the wellknown series adds a sense of familiarity, even though it's a totally different school. Technology is used well as plot points, there's some ridiculous scenarios for humour, and some heart in mouth moments which I think are greater than similar plot points in Dork Diaries. Please be careful if you eat or drink while reading this book, there's one part where you may be put off your food. I thankfully wasn't eating at the time of the part where poor Max suffers. Overall it's a great read, and I can see potential for all readers to enjoy it for different reasons. Mrs. Wallabanger: Mrs. Wallabanger is the Maxwell family's neighbor. She is also Oliver's and Max's grandmother. She has trouble hearing and she also appeared in the Dork Diaries series. She also has a Yorkshire Terrier dog named Creampuff.

Did we miss something on diversity?

Okay, so... this book was okay. I found the actual school scenes with the burglars really interesting and super fun, yet this book was just filled with sooooo much filler content. FINALLY! Here is my chance to be a REAL SUPERHERO and rescue Erin get us out of this Dumpster before it’s too late. Max is a kind person who is loyal to his friends but he is often a coward when it comes to Doug bullying him.

My oldest said up until the last chapter it was a 5 star read. After the to-be-continued, it dropped to a 2 star. He didn't like that he'd been excited 'for nothing'. So yeah, I am not impressed with this book, and very disappointed. I had hoped for a new series to enjoy as I didn't enjoy the other series by this author any more (it just kept being the same story over and over again with meh characters). Wouldn't recommend this book.

Table of Contents

I really enjoyed the book. I thought it was very funny, interesting and creative. One thing that I did not really like about the book was that Max’s family was never really involved. I don’t think I would change anything in the book besides involving the family a little more. Besides that, the book was awesome. Then the entire world will learn the truth about the night I MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared and NEVER returned to South Ridge Middle School! The Misadventures of Max Crumbly is the spin-off series of Dork Diaries written by Rachel Renée Russell. It is about Maxwell "Max" Crumbly's life in middle school, which he chronicles in his journal, which he calls The Misadventures of Max Crumbly. The series is also written in diary format just like Dork Diaries. The series currently has 3 books in it.
