About this deal

However, Batman accompanies him, and, in an off-panel scene, successfully reaches a compromise with the tribunal. While I’m reserving judgment on whether it succeeds with this idea until we get a bit further into the series, I do have a lot to say about the context behind this series and how it affects what we see here. But Aquakid gets knocked unconscious in the first fight - would that mean that the sub wouldn’t have been protected by his powers and have imploded? By using technology within the Fortress of Solitude, Superman not only willingly surrenders his powers for good, he secretly transfers them to Batman to so he can become Earth’s next mightiest hero.

The trio of aliens immediately show up after that and the rest of the issue is comprised of fighting and arguing between the two groups. Superman has disappeared, and aliens have thrown all technology back to essentially the dark ages (cliche' number 237). A big draw for me for an unknown random comic that seemed on the face of it mainly just another Batman book, was that lead artist is Darrick Robertson.Superman is permitted to live, so long as he is permanently depowered, which is achieved through a molecular chamber within the Fortress of Solitude. An ok story that kind of confuses me why it's a Batman story as it quickly becomes all about Superman. For the heroes we need to have a gay kiss from multi-racial Aqua-guy, odd that no other character's sexuality was highlighted, almost like an agenda.

Batman is left holding the bag when something disrupts most communication systems across the planet and Superman and the Green Lantern Corps are nowhere to be seen. It seemed like a storyline where Earth is under attack and Batman (as you can see by the cover) is dealing with a Gotham City that, like the whole planet, is under a complete blackout due to extreme alien tech - a very worst, case scenario that reminded me of the old "No-Man's Land" storyline which was one of the most badass ever in Batman comics, not great, but a first of its kind at the time and done pretty well.I’m not sure if this is a plot hole as I don’t know how his powers work but one of Batman’s team is the new Aquakid.
