This year's celebrations focus lots of attention on the 50th anniversary of James and the Giant Peach but that's not everything. Other major productions have been mounted by West Yorkshire Playhouse and Polka Theatre, and it is very popular with community and amateur companies in the UK and US.

The first book below has a similar illustration style to the film, quite 'soft', so that stylistic approach could be relevant. She had small piggy eyes, a sunken mouth and one of those white flabby faces that looked exactly as though it had been boiled. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, design to front cover in blind, top edge yellow, green endpapers.

They begin to worry about food, sharks and cloud but as a team and with James clever ideas, they manage to resolve all of their issues. I downloaded this book as I read his paper copy to my grandson over Christmas which we both enjoyed.I really like your second one of James climbing into the peach, really nice composition i'd make the house in the background slightly smaller so that it fits in the nice space you've created with the tree branch! In 1999 he became the first ever Children's Laureate and in 2013 he was knighted for services to illustration. He is also the winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration and in 1990 was voted 'The Illustrator's Illustrator' by Observer Magazine. James and the Giant Peach is a popular children's novel written in 1961 by British author Roald Dahl.

A stunning example of this title presenting very well with the striking dust jacket and nice crisp interior. Basis for the 1976 BBC TV film starring Simon Bell, Anna Quayle, and Ann Beach, and the 1996 animated film starring Paul Terry, Richard Dreyfuss, Peter Postlethwaite, and Susan Sarandon. Some of his better-known works include James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, The Witches, and The BFG. In 1953 Dahl married the actress Patricia Neal; they had three children, to whom he began to tell bedtime stories.Internally the book is clean, tight and square with no marks or inscriptions other than the author's. I was heavily inspired by traditional book design when it came to the typography and typesetting because of the classic nature and history of this book: careful attention was given when typesetting the justified blocks of text for an ultimately traditional and refined feeling. Instant Download of the Book cover "James and The Giant Peach" by Roald Dahl on a scanned Vintage 1886 dictionary page. Just like that, an average snow day—usually filled with hot cocoa and snowball fights—is commandeered by the stranger, who forces the siblings into a dangerous game. Nearly two decades later, Dahl published JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH as his second children's book, finally moving into the field where his writing would develop into a powerful legacy.

The contents are bright and generally clean with illustrations, including some in color but also with a bit of light scattered foxing to a few pages. He was also the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and many more brilliant stories. This is one of my favourite projects because I got the chance to work on and be inspired by one of my favourite stories growing up. There are numerous changes in both the plot of the film and the plot of the book, though the film was generally well received. I was going to try and avoid dark because there’s so much of it in my portfolio, but it just wasn’t working without it.It was directed by Henry Selick and produced by Denise Di Novi and Tim Burton, all of whom previously made The Nightmare Before Christmas. The darkness of Dahl's worlds for children have often been objected to by adults - this book regularly features on lists of banned or challenged books in American libraries - but for many children, it is the spark of fantasy within bleak settings that appeals to the imagination without becoming saccharine: Tim Burton famously told Dahl's widow he wanted to turn JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH into a film because "it's the only book that ever gave me any hope when I was a child" (D IS FOR DAHL). The covers show light rubbing to the corners and spine ends, light sunning to the bottom edge of the covers, and with a small, very faint stain to the bottom edge of the upper cover.
