About this deal

Whilst initially I felt this was more like glossing over certain events and maybe not as detailed on the ins-and-out of Liverpool (did they learn from Pep's book perhaps? You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

But for me Jordan will always remain a quality player and captain who has shown his own way how to replace Steven Gerrard in the team. Again, I felt it was merely glossing over events and maybe not as detailed as I hoped it would be, but still a great read. We have it set up so it’s easy to browse and even have all our recommended reads in one place to help you, if needs be. Outside the football pitch, Jordan's won plaudits for his support for the LGBT+ community and, during Covid, for the NHS, contributing towards his appointment of an MBE in 2021. This was a brilliantly emotive book from start to finish and an interesting insight into his life, career, and dreams. There are no earth shattering exposes, and the book contained very little new information as a Liverpool supporter. An autobiography full of real insight into the life of a top-flight footballer, Henderson’s story also carries an inspirational message for anyone facing hurdles and barriers, that they will not stop you reaching your goals.

The book reflects Jordan’s personality 100%, and you can tell that he has definitely had a big input in writing it. Transferred to Liverpool in June 2011, Jordan's early years at the club saw him struggle to settle under Sir Kenny Dalglish then Brendan Rodgers before eventually establishing himself at Anfield as a force of nature in midfield. Henderson was at Liverpool when they nearly won the league in 2014 - indeed his absence in the last few games was probably a factor in why they didn’t - and the story then takes us through the triumphs and dramas of the Jurgen Klopp era - a real page turner.Bunyard commented: "It’s a rare privilege to have a player of Jordan’s standing and experience share their experiences of the game as openly as he does here, in his first autobiography. Hendo is one of my favourite players and arguably one of the best ever Liverpool captain's so I was looking forward to reading this. If you are a fan of Jordan Henderson or indeed of Liverpool FC then you will enjoy this insight into our Captain and see just how much he has dedicated his life to his love of the beautiful game. Jordan Henderson, MBE, is one of football's highest-profile players and has captained Liverpool FC since 2015.

In this unflinching autobiography, Jordan takes us from his footballingroots in Sunderland to the heat of the dressing room at Anfield. He is the only footballer to be named England Player of the Year twice, for the under 21s and then on the senior squad. It's a pity that I was reading this book at the time when his sudden transfer from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia started to happen. Henderson began playing for Liverpool in 2011, before taking over as captain from Steven Gerrard in 2015. The book is extremely ordinary, like the interviews footballers give after matches which lack proper substance. Jordan doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know and appears like his career is overshadowed by his self confidence and constantly blowing smoke up other footballers backsides I found myself eye rolling throughout the book and I like Jordan as a footballer who gets less credit he really deserves.

Biography: Jordan Henderson, MBE, is one of football's highest-profile players and has captained Liverpool FC since 2015. I also like how he touched upon both Black Lives Matter (especially taking the knee) - considering that Luis Suarez was found guilty of racism when he was playing for Liverpool - and the fund which he and many other footballers set up to help the NHS staff and key workers throughout the pandemic. Calendar arrived safely in plastic-free packaging - which I've not seen before with a calendar, so kudos for that.In Jordan Henderson: The Autobiography he talks about his journey from growing up in Sunderland – with football his all-consuming passion as a kid – to becoming one of Liverpool’s most decorated captains.
