I've been looking for a new controller for months. This article had so many ads that it was no help. A bundle that includes a carrying case for your Nintendo Switch console and a screen protector for the console’s screen. Also includes an organising pad where you can store five Nintendo Switch game cards and two Joy-Con straps. The case can also be used as a stand for the console. FlameRunnerFast Agreed. Works great and is pretty affordable IMO and has more functionality than the 8bito adapters. Within tournaments, controllers are rarely provided to players, and players are expected to bring their own controller; as such, the phrase BYOC is commonly found in tournament rulesets, an acronym for " Bring Your Own Controller". Players are responsible for their own controllers, as tournaments typically will not replace them or compensate players who lose them. Players with wireless controllers are also responsible for any issues that may arise from them, including issues with battery life or interference, and tournament organizers are not obligated to assist players of these controllers should issues end up influencing a match. Some tournaments are known to provide emergency replacement controllers in case a player experiences a catastrophic error with their controller, but these are few and far between. If a player is unable to use their controller for any reason and are unable to acquire a replacement in a timely manner, they are deemed unfit to play and are considered forfeit.

No mention of the Magic-NS? It allows me to use my PS4 controller on Switch and it works pretty well. I'll be using an SNES controller. The adapter it uses lets you press Start+Select to get the home button functionality. In tournaments, especially large ones, the wireless nature of the Pro Controller can be problematic, both for the users and the people around them. Tournaments typically have large amounts of wireless interference, which makes using the Pro Controller wirelessly potentially unreliable. In addition, wireless Pro Controllers can still send inputs to the console they are synced with even when the controller is far away if not manually disconnected, which often results in unwanted inputs being sent to consoles by accident. This has become less of an issue over time, as the Switch operating system has added the ability to disconnect all wireless controllers from the console in the system settings and because Smash Ultimate was patched to let any player disconnect a controller, even other people's controllers. When emulated through the use of a computer, standard computer keyboards have been used when playing Smash on an emulator, such as Project64k or Dolphin. While having flaws of its own compared to official controllers, computer keyboards offer some interesting benefits for playing Smash. As with Nintendo's own offering, the Battle Pad is wired meaning that it's not easily usable in tabletop mode. The USB cable is a decent length and unlike Nintendo's own offering you won't need an adapter to use it. Personally, we'd prefer a wireless version of the GameCube controller but that doesn't look likely at the present moment in time. Thankfully, HORI rival 8BitDo does offer a solution of sorts, but it relies on an external device so the pad isn't totally wireless.AND... You could also use the "PDP wired fight pad" , but i like the nintendo classic controller from the Wii the best. ( even with the weird wire coming out of the bottom of the controller) Button Suspends the current software and opens the HOME Menu. The HOME Button blinks when you have a notification. Wireless controllers generally have their own set of rules when it comes to tournaments. Wireless controllers were historically required to have their batteries removed whenever the owner is not playing a match, as they can interfere with other controllers that are trying to sync to consoles, where port priority can be important. Players who do not comply with this may be disqualified. Owing to the issues with wireless controllers, particularly large tournaments may have a total blanket ban on all wireless controllers; in addition to the interference issues, some TOs may simply not want to waste time waiting for players to sync wireless controllers to consoles. Ultimate tournaments typically do not have any restrictions on the use of wireless controllers owing to the popularity of the official Pro Controller. It should come as no surprise that the Nintendo Switch Pro controller has landed on top of our list as the best Controllers for Smash Ultimate. This version of the Switch Pro is a special “Super Smash Bros Edition” variant, meaning it has all the bearings of the iconic Nintendo game launched in 2018. As far as the features are concerned, this offering has the same set of features found in the Nintendo Joy-Con controllers including built-in amiibo functionality along with motion control, HD rumble, and more.

The Wii U Pro Controller has had a contentious history in Smash 4, with the controller having been sometimes banned for simply being wireless in function; a number of players, however, have argued for its total legality, as directly wiring it to the console prevents any interference issues, and it also allows the controller to be immediately used without having to sync it to the Wii U console.
