Larkin, Colin (2007). The Encyclopedia of Popular Music (4thed.). Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0195313734. George recorded his guitar part in 1995, when the surviving “Threatles” had a bash at “Now and Then,” then left it unfinished. But Paul adds a new slide-guitar solo that’s “in George’s style,” as he explains in the film. “My tribute to George.” One reason the lads were grafting so hard—their royalties were frozen in their Apple litigation, so they needed new hits. But an even bigger reason: the audience simply could not get enough Beatles. The Red/Blue phenomenon was a strange case of the fans and the music business colluding to create a new Fabs album, simply because the Fabs themselves refused to do it. The pop audience was essentially saying, if you won’t give us the Beatles, we’ll build our own Beatles from the spare parts. Different pressings in the United States and United Kingdom led to variations in the mixes and performances used. The Capitol Records version tended to use mixes and performances originally heard on The Beatles’ US albums, such as the version of ‘Help!’ featuring a James Bond-style introduction.

Further down, we have a new entry from The Kid LAROI’s official debut album THE FIRST TIME (29), which was recently trailed by the Top 10 hit TOO MUCH with Jung Kook and Central Cee. Beatles fans are on standby for the announcement of an expanded ‘1962-1966’ (The Red Album) and ‘1967-1970’ (The Blue Album). New Zealand album certifications – The Beatles – 1962–1966". Recorded Music NZ . Retrieved 20 November 2023.The speculation for the reissues is that the initial 2LP/CD editions will each be expanded to triple album sets and contain for unreleased song ‘Now and Then’. The Beatles 1962-1966 was released in the United States on 2 April 1973. It topped the Cashbox chart, but peaked at number three on the Billboard chart. The Blue Album (1967-1970) did reach number one on Billboard, however.

Martin did a string arrangement, as his father George Martin did for so many Fabs classics. “I was basically ripping off my dad as much as possible,” Martin says. “But listen, if I can’t rip off my dad in a string arrangement for a Beatles record, when can I do it?” Oricon Top 50 Combined Albums: 2023-11-20" (in Japanese). So, we have multiple things going on here. 1) The pressing quality has issues. No arguments there. I'm sure the 2014 had better quality control.

Listen to the newly-expanded and remixed albums today, including the last Beatles song "Now And Then."

The release of the ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ albums creates a diversion in the Beatles reissue road. I would imagine a slight change to take into consideration 1962 – 2023 might be appropriate.
