We spoke to pharmacist Navid Sole from Peter’s Pharmacy and Dr Deborah Lee from Dr Fox Online Pharmacy about how to identify, treat, and ultimately prevent bites and stings from occurring – plus, the symptoms of a bad reaction, and when to consider seeing a doctor: What causes a reaction to insect bites or stings? The latest version of Get Bit! features fresh artwork, as well as new designs for the robotic figurines and the pursuing shark. As in many of the previous editions of the game, the player miniatures have detachable limbs that can be removed to represent the number of shark bites they’ve received throughout the game, whilst the shark miniature looks distinctly metallic and has a hinge jaw to simulate chomping. Symptoms to note: More concerning reactions to wasp stings, that may indicate some level of allergy to the venom, include extreme redness and swelling that increases for two or three days after the sting. Nausea and vomiting can also occur. Most times, these reactions will subside on their own in about a week. You should let your doctor know right away if you have a more concerning reaction after a wasp sting. Get Bit also has a number of small expansions - one of which lets one player take the role of the shark! Get Bit is a small game with a small footprint making it a great game to travel with. It’s easy to learn and it will have you and your fellow gamers in stitches as you fall victim to the shark, or ditch your mates right in the biting line... Most people have experienced a bite like this before. ‘You may have just a few small red bumps which feel a bit itchy,’ says Dr Lee. ‘Sometimes bites can cause larger areas of redness and swelling. Let's say you wrote a story about the Queen. She is closing the windows in her palace as it gets dark. Would she say to Prince Philip, "Oy Phil! Close the winders! I don't want to get bit by a mozzie!"? GET_BIT will throw an error if bit_offset is negative or greater than the last bit in the data type. To minimise the opportunity for bites and stings, keep your arms and legs covered, with long-sleeved clothing and full length trousers. ‘Don’t walk around barefoot – keep your shoes on,’ says Dr Lee. You should also cover any food and drinks, remembering insects can climb inside cans. ‘Avoid rubbish bins and refuse areas and keep the lids on your bins,’ she continues. If you’re at home, keep windows and doors closed. ‘You can use a net covering at windows or a bead covering at doorways to stop insects getting into the house,’ says Dr Lee. ‘Keep your car windows closed.’ The goal of Get Bit is to be the last surviving member of your friendship group after you are ambushed whilst out for a casual swim.
