I do have a few outfits that I can pull out of the wardrobe that I know will instantly make me feel myself. I love simple shapes and classic colours – a great pair of wide-leg jeans, the perfect white shirt and a trench coat is my go-to. I love Battersea Park and Chelsea Physic garden and Fischers for dinner (below) and Olivogelo for ice cream (below) and the new Anya Café for lunch! So you have to find a way to make them want to stay with you. You have to deploy your passion and energy and positivity so that they will love the journey and the excitement of building something, they will believe in the business, they will love working with the team. I have come to realise that maybe I worried more than I needed to about this. Very often, as much as the salary and benefits and progression, job satisfaction is about liking your team, and enjoying working together to build something. It’s about: Am I having fun? Am I proud of what I’m doing? Are we collectively making a difference? Are we reaching our goal? I mainly focus on my breathing and try to concentrate on not allowing my mind to race. No easy feat. But there are lots of good apps for this, for example, Calm. Comforting, practical and beautifully personal. Anya Hindmarch: Great British Brand 2023

If In Doubt, Wash Your Hair" is her best piece of advice, and the title of her very first non-fiction. This guide to life consists of the best advice she's received over the years (for context, she's in her early 50s and started her business as a teenager!) as well as all the trials and tribulations she and her blended family have gone through. A diverse workforce is vital, both ethically and commercially, but my position on how to achieve this has changed. Most of my career has been in the era of ‘equality for women in the workplace’. It has not been achieved yet – clearly – but until recently I was somewhat skeptical about the various efforts made, and used to say, ‘I don’t want to be put on a board just because I’m wearing a skirt.’ I felt that progress was being made and would continue to be, naturally and organically, as women continued to deliver and prove their worth. I argued against quotas or other measures to ‘force’ change, as it seemed to me that they could undermine women. At The Ice Cream Project, people enjoyed unexpected flavours from baked beans to ketchup, continuing Anya’s love of elevating the everyday. Really enjoyed this brilliant, inspiring and empowering book!! Anya Hindmarch is a world famous businesswoman, entrepreneur, CEO, and a mother to five children (3 of whom are her step children who she's looked after since they were small). In the early 2000s, she created an it bag that everyone had to have, known as the "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" bag. I remember even my mum had one!

I am slightly dyslexic too, and strongly agree that I may not be able to find the time to sit and read long books or maybe be correct with my grammar. Though this book I was hooked and needed to read every single word. In these tough, turbulent times, creativity trumps everything. So we’ve spent time focusing on the creativity in our Village, doing some quite mad and bold projects for a fashion brand, from ice-cream and nail parlour to a non-alcoholic off-licence. We went from doing big shows for exclusive audiences that last about nine minutes with huge costs and carbon footprint, to building fun experiences that last for weeks to which everyone’s welcome. It brought our community together and gave us a platform to talk about the things we care about, like sustainability. I do my best work when I drown out the noise and listen to my gut. It was important to create an immersive, localised world that felt authentic and that you can’t get online. We already build the cost of carbon offsetting into our products and, like everyone, we’re facing massive price hikes. It’s inevitable that luxury will get more expensive, but I believe our customers are getting the message to buy fewer but better things.’ Don't stres about the nitty-gritty details/documentation. Entrepreneurs are more doers than reading through tons of small print (hat's what you hire lawyers etc for). David Allen's motto that your brain is for 'having ideas, not holding them.' If you can do a 'mind-sweep' and get everything you need to remember out of your brain and onto a list, you can relax in the knowledge that it is all captured and won't be forgotten."

About the contributors

Even though she covers mental health, daily routine and lifestyle, love and friendship, society, work and pretty much everything else in between - I personally enjoyed the parenting section and parts of the book perhaps the most. It's probably due to the fact that I really want to have kids someday. And also that I constantly worry how I don't mess up at parenting because I not only realise how important a role of a parent is + how the kind of relationship you build with them growing up is going to determine the kind of relationship they have with you when you are old. Amid a surge in farm fires and unfavourable weather conditions, scientists have warned of a spike in the pollution levels in the Delhi-NCR region in the next two weeks Creativity is about solving problems and finding ways to do things well and it is probably needed most in the least creative business.
